His grandmother Queen Elizabeth often travels in elegant carriages but Prince Harry chose a less regal method of getting around London on Friday night.

The party loving royal is known for his down to earth manner and often takes black cabs around the city on his nights out with friends but even he could have been expected to baulk at getting a rickshaw to his destination.

However, Harry – who had been dining at Mexican restaurant La Bodega Negra in Soho with friends – eagerly jumped into the pedal-powered rickshaw, quickly followed by one of his surprised protection officer.

A second bodyguard followed behind in his own three-wheeled vehicle, pulled by a bicycle.

An onlooker told the Sunday Mirror newspaper ‘Harry just made a beeline for the tuk-tuk when he came out of the restaurant with his mates.

‘The rickshaw driver looked a bit shocked to have the third in line to the throne in the back.

‘But they all seemed to be having a good laugh about it’.

After enjoying a meal at the Mexican restaurant Harry and his pals - Jack Mann and Arthur Landon - partied at Le Salon Bar.

Harry was dressed casually in a black and white shirt and jeans and could be seen waving and yelling out the rickshaw.

Those in the vehicle made sure they were protected from the rain, with Harry’s pal seen pulling the plastic cover down over them for the short journey.

It is a far cry from Harry’s transport during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations when he was spotted in a royal carriage with his family.

Last weekend, Harry joined his brother Prince William and a group of their pals including Thomas van Straubenzee and Tom Inskip for surfing in Cornwall.

Dressed in black wetsuits, the siblings pair braved the stormy weather and enjoyed some brotherly bonding.

Although the royal brothers tackled the waves enthusiastically on their bodyboards, they didn’t appear to be hugely successful in mastering them.

Prince William also went surfing for his stag do - although on that occasion he chose to go to Devon.

As part of the relaxed weekend in Cornwall they enjoyed an afternoon in they enjoyed a few ‘sundowners’ on the veranda of their rented holiday home while watching a magnificent sunset.
