She has been seen sporting a very large baby bump as she gets nearer and nearer to her delivery date next month.

And now Jessica Simpson has revealed to Hello! magazine that she has put on a bountiful 40 pounds during her pregnancy.

The 31-year-old told the magazine in their latest issue that she has been pleased to take time off dieting.

'I had a great pregnancy. Eating and not having to worry too much about it has been fun,' she said.

'Taking a break from working out has definitely been fun. But I’m ready for it to be over. I’m ready to have my body back!'

Jessica, who appears to have been pregnant for much longer than her three trimesters, told the magazine that she can't wait to deliver her unborn son or daughter.

'I feel like I could pop at any second,' she said.

The singer recently celebrated her impending motherhood with a baby shower at her Los Angeles home.

Jessica told Hello! magazine that the bash, which was attended by the likes of Jessica Alba and her sister Ashlee Simpson, had a Charlotte's Web theme.

The E.B. White book was Jessica's favourite fictional story growing up.

During the celebrations, the woman played games and enjoyed several activities including guessing the size the size of Jessica’s bump and knitting lessons.

The get together wasn't just for adults only: the guest list also had the who's who of celebrity offsprings.

Alba brought her daughter, Haven, seven months, and Ashlee brought her son Bronx, three.

Following the party, Jessica opened her lavish gifts with fiance Eric Johnson.

'Eric is going to be an unbelievable dad,' she told Hello!. 'I can’t wait to see if he can master ponytails and braids!'

Jessica, who was obviously expecting better weather, was soaked through in a brightly covered maxi dress that clung to her large bump and was wearing flip-flops and sunglasses.

The reality TV star has not been shy when it has come to discussing her pregnancy or showing off her burgeoning belly.

Recently, the she refuted claims that she was carrying twins and explained the cause of her huge belly on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

She told the host, 'Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks it will be like a fire hydrant!'

Jessica also appeared naked on the cover of April's ELLE magazine and said that the Demi Moore inspired photo was all her idea.

'They didn't even ask me to do that,' she said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

'It was my idea. It kind of just seemed a natural thing for me to do.'

'I'm like 170 pounds and I wanted to pose nude,' she explained. 'I try to be like 110 pounds.

'It's funny to be at your heaviest and feel the most confident. I just take such pride in being a mom! I just love my body more than ever now.'

With Adele's soulful lyrics, you'd expect to see a sea of lighters waving in the air at one of her concerts.

But Jessica Simpson and her fiancé looked a little more rock 'n' roll as they stumbled around outside the Greek Theater in Hollywood.

The Texan beauty clung onto Eric Johnson as they wobbled along gleefully at the Californian venue.

Dressed in black shorts and a blouse, that looked suspiciously like she'd borrowed a shirt from the US footballer's wardrobe, Jess looked happy in his arms.

The 6ft 3in sportsman also bore a grin as he clutched his bride-to-be in his burly grip.

Despite a marriage on the horizon, the couple have not been together very long - having met in May last year.

Johnson separated from wife Keri Johnson in October 2009 after five years together, and was already dating Jessica when the divorce was finalised a year later.

There was just one month between the divorce coming through and getting engaged to Jessica in November 2010.

The Dukes of Hazzard actress has also said 'I do' before, tying the knot with 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey in 2002.

But even the strength of their own reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica was not enough to save their doomed romance and they split in 2005.

Young sister Ashlee hasn't had much luck either, separating from husband Pete Wentz in February after just three years under the same roof.

After cancelling a string of US dates in June following a bout of laryngitis, the Someone Like You singer rescheduled her American tour.

She pulled in an impressive audience with an eclectic range of famous faces, including Glee beauty Dianna Agron and Ugly Betty star America Ferrera who turned up with new husband Ryan Piers Wililams.

She recently said she was planning to lose weight for her wedding by 'dancing around her bedroom'.

But it seems Jessica Simpson is also exploring other ways to shed the pounds before she marries fiancé Eric Johnson.

The 30-year-old singer was seen enjoying a tandem bike ride with Johnson and a group of friends as they pedalled their way along the Venice boardwalk.

Jessica's weight has sparked a lot of debate over the years. She stunned fans when she stepped out at the MTV Movie Awards in 2005 looked thinner than ever after losing weight for her role as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard.

But Jessica failed to maintain the 36-24-36 figure she worked so hard to achieve, and started steadily piling weight back on.

Now, however, Jessica is determined to be in the best shape ever for her nuptials, and is trying to 'hopefully lose some weight' ahead of her big day.

Asked if she was going to be embarking on a proper diet and exercise regime before the wedding, Jessica replied: 'No exercise is fun! I am going to dance around my bedroom and hopefully lose some weight - and lift some weights and do what I can!'
