These days, Dannii Minogue is spending most of her time in her native Australia, and judging by these pictures the 40-year-old mother has transformed into a bronzed beach babe.

Having chopped off her hair last year to beat the heat Down Under, Dannii poses in a stunning photoshoot for InStyle Australia looking like a golden-skinned goddess in a white swimsuit.

Her gamine crop slicked wet, the star's deep tan is set off by simple gold accessories.

The younger Minogue sister discusses how her love of son Ethan, who turns two next month, has helped her through a difficult year.

In April, Dannii confirmed the rumours that she and partner Kris Smith has split, writing on Twitter: 'It brings me great sadness to tell you that Kris and I have separated. We still care for each other and ask for privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains our number one priority.'

'Life has been full of certainties and surprises, but even with the changes I know I am incredibly lucky, and wake up each day feeling blessed with my beautiful baby boy there,' she tells InStyle. 'When I tuck him into bed, I'll hear this little voice yell out, "I love you more!"

Dannii says that her little boy is already following in the her and sister Kylie's footsteps, learning how to get a reaction from a captive audience. 'He knows if he says something with particular timing he can make you laugh, melt or whatever,' she reveals. 'I guess that's the Minogue performer inside him!'

Dannii flew from her home in Melbourne to Hayman Island, off the coast of Queensland to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Australian cosmetics brand ModelCo, for whom she is an ambassador.

Dannii says she teamed up the company after being inspired by CEO Shelley Barrett's passion. '[Shelley] is in a worldwide market, and she's an individual running a company out of Australia,' she says. 'I'm so proud of that.'

As a fellow business owner, Dannii says she and her Project D partner Tabitha Somerset-Webb have had their fair share of ups and downs themselves. 'You don't get started in this industry if you think it's going to be easy. We were like, "If we can survive this, and retail being super-hard at the moment, we're going to be fine".'

She's had short hair for a while now but Dannii Minogue appears to have gone even shorter with a cute pixie style.

The mother-of-one debuted her slicked locks, which also looked considerably darker, at the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week opening party.

Dannii, 39, is the ambassador for the week-long event which starts on Monday.


The Australia's Got Talent judge looked gorgeous in a glittery gold dress which had a split down the front, revealing her tanned legs.

She paired the dress with a pair of matching Georgina Goodman shoes.

Dannii said on Twitter she was excited to see what everyone else was wearing.

She added: 'Sun setting over Melbourne and we're ready for the #MSFW opening party. Whoop!'

The fashion week is in its 17th year and attracts more than 80,000 people to the city every year.

This year's program features more than 100 events.

Dannii is a keen fashion designer herself, starting her own line Project D with her best friend Tabitha Somerset Webb.

She said in July when her fashion week role was announced that she was 'honoured to be a part of it'.

'Fashion is something that takes up a lot of my time, between juggling a baby and TV commitments, but it's something that I am very passionate about.'

Dannii will be back in the UK later this month to sign copies of her book Dannii: My Style.

The jet-setter was this week spotted in Thailand on a romantic getaway with her boyfriend, model Kris Smith, 33.

The couple defied rumours their relationship was on the rocks and could not stop grinning as they took elephants for a ride.

Reports had began surfacing earlier this year that the couple were heading for a break up, as Dannii's career takes a toll.

Kris took a backseat to his other half this week when he modeled at the Flemington Spring Fashion Lunch in Melbourne, a run-up to fashion week.

The couple are parents to Ethan,13 months.

Last week they released a statement to shoot down rumours that they had split up.

However, Dannii Minogue, 39, and Kris Smith remain the subject of rumours about the state of their relationship and the strain is beginning to show.

Yesterday the couple spent the day apart, the former X Factor judge picking up her aunty from a retirement home while Kris took care of their son, Ethan.

Wearing a purple Adidas hoodie, jeans and Converse trainers Dannii appeared glum keeping her shades on as she said farewell to her aunt.

Baby Ethan was safely seated in the back seat of Dannii's Lexus RX450.

Earlier in the day, ex-rugby player Smith took care of baby Ethan while his partner stayed indoors.

Kris, 32, appeared stoney-faced as he took the 11-month-old for a walk close to their home.

He has just returned to the family home following a trip to Perth where he was on a photoshoot for Australian department store Myer.

En route home he tweeted about his joy at returning to Dannii and Ethan after his short break in the west Australian city.

And, after spending some time alone with his little boy, Kris later tweeted: 'A beautiful bright but breezy Melbourne winters day. Had lads lunch with my boy now off to do the shopping and other chores.'

In a show of strength Kris then accompanied Dannii to the Australia's Got Talent studios to support her stint on the show's judging panel.

Last week Dannii and Kris issued a denial over speculation that they were on the verge of splitting.

The statement read: 'Thanks for your concern. We're happy to be back at home in Melbourne together as a family. We are committed to our relationship and Ethan as always.'

However reports suggest the couple's relationship is indeed on the rocks, with Sydney's Daily Telegraph claiming that Kris walked out on Dannii because he was fed up of being treated like one of “her staff”.

'Kris felt that he had become an extension of Minogue’s team of assistants,' claimed a source interviewed by the paper.

'Someone she just dealt with, like a nanny or a secretary. Not one half of a loving relationship.

It's also being claimed that he has been confiding in female friend, a stunning TV presenter named Lauren Phillips.

A source who spoke to the Sunday Mirror alleged: 'They are good mates. Like a lot of guys having problems in a relationship he’s sought a female pal to confide in.

'They’ve known each other quite a while. They got pally during training for the Melbourne Celebrity Grand Prix race in March.'

Meanwhile others close to the couple have hinted that all is not well - both Smith's mother, Elsie, and Miss Minogue's colleague on Australia's Got Talent, Kyle Sandilands, have hinted at the couple's relationship troubles.

Smith's mother said: 'I hope it's just a trial split. I know they will do everything to save their relationship for the sake of their son.'

While DJ Sandilands said he had been comforting his colleague.

Speaking on his Sydney based 2DayFm radio show, Sandilands said: 'This is still really rumour, rumour... Neither of them yesterday said to my face "it's finished". They could just be going through rocky times.'

Kris made an effort to gloss over any speculation of trouble over Twitter though, tweeting this week, telling fans he was enjoying 'the best pizza with my beautiful family.'

Trouble: Dannii Minogue and boyfriend Kris Smith are said to be struggling with their relationship and spending so much time apart


Former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue is reportedly fighting to save her relationship with model boyfriend Kris Smith.

A source close to the couple said they have had a series of rows over their heavy workloads and are battling to juggle family life with their busy careers and travelling between the UK and Australia.

Dannii hinted about the strains in a few heartfelt messages on Twitter.

She tweeted: 'Never chase love. If it isn't given freely by another person, it's not worth having.'

In another message she wrote: 'Forgiving someone does not mean forgetting what they did. It simply means letting go of the hurt.'

Kris, a former rugby player, also hinted on Twitter that the the couple were going through a rough patch when he said: 'You don't know what you've got til it's gone.'

The tweets were later deleted and the couple are now talking about what to do for their son Ethan's first birthday in July, according to the News of the World.

'Kris is not happy about Dannii's heavy work-load, and wants her to spend more time with him and baby Ethan, and has put his foot down,' a source told the tabloid.

'Dannii is not happy about having to choose between work and family, and they have been arguing about this recently,' said the friend.

The couple, who first met in Ibiza three years ago, have both expressed their joy at becoming parents for the first time.

But their heavy workloads mean they are often apart with one in the UK and the other in Australia.

'I will be back in the UK very soon for the release of the next 'Project D' collection, 'My Style' fashion book launch and some other secret projects,' she said.

So far Dannii's departure means that Louise Walsh will be the only returning judge on this year's panel. He will be joined by Take That singer Gary Barlow.

Other judges for the show are still being confirmed but N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos, 22, is a hot favourite and show bosses are desperate to get Cheryl Cole back after she was sacked from the US version of the show.

Dannii, 39, has always spoken about returning to Australia and it is believed that she and Kris will now try and permanently base themselves there.

The X Factor judge had pulled out all the stops to show her support for Terry Ronald, whose debut Becoming Nancy went on sale yesterday.


The occasion was celebrated with a party at London's Westbury Hotel, comeplete with champagne and cupcakes.

Dannii gushed on her official Twitter: 'Becoming Nancy: this book is for any kid who ever lay on their bed staring up at a poster of Debbie Harry.

'Terry is a lyrical maestro. The characters in Nancy will jump off the pages and tap into your heart @terryronald'

Dannii's best friend and confidant, singer-songwriter and producer Terry has worked with Dannii on a host of her tracks over the years and co-wrote the star's autobiographer My Story.

His novel meanwhile is a coming-of-age and coming out novel set in working class London in the Seventies.

It's about a pop-music obsessed boy called David who is cast as Nancy in an upcoming school production of Oliver.

Living in a three-bedroom semi in 1970s' working-class East Dulwich, surrounded by his somewhat colourful relatives, he is bright, smart-mouthed, fanatical about pop music and ready to shine.

As rehearsals begin, he strikes up a friendship with the handsome yet enigmatic Maxie Boswell, captain of the school football team - which threatens to turn into something more.

It comes as myriad rumours circulate about who is set to be on the panel of this year's show.

The star, who splits her time between her home city of Melbourne in Australia and London, is hoping to return full time this year after having to sit out of the auditions last year whilst heavily pregnant and then having baby Ethan in July.

Dannii and Louis are hoping to make their return, but with Simon Cowell now not appearing as a judge to concentrate on the U.S. version of the show, it's left the field wide open.

Mel B has apparently revealed that she could be replacing Cheryl Cole, who's also set to transfer to the U.S. version, and it's said that Ozzy Osbourne is in talks to have a role on the show.
