'I'm thrilled and overwhelmed': Amanda Holden announces she is three months pregnant with little girl

By Sara Nathan

Thrilled Amanda Holden today revealed that she was pregnant with a baby girl –just months after losing her much-longed for baby son.

The Britain’s Got Talent star was left devastated after suffering a stillbirth at seven-months pregnant in February.

However, the 40-year-old mother-of-one said was ‘thrilled and overwhelmed’ as friends confirmed the news that she was three months pregnant.

Great news: Amanda Holden has today announced she is three months pregnant

Miss Holden, who has a five-year-old daughter called Lexi with her music producer husband Chris Hughes, was just two months away from giving birth when tragedy struck.

The blonde television favourite had only announced the news of her pregnancy the month before, admitting she had kept it under wraps as she had already suffered a harrowing miscarriage in May 2010.

Amanda will be handing over the reins of Princess Fiona to Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, who will join the cast of Shrek The Musical.

Last night, a close friend said: ‘Amanda and Chris are just so, so happy. This is a dream come true.

‘Amanda was adamant they would try again after the tragedy of losing their little boy, and doctors will be keeping an extremely close eye on her. She is under the best possible medical care.

‘They both hope and pray that Lexi will get her wish of becoming a big sister.’

Stepping down: The news means that the actress will step down as Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical and will be replaced by Kimberley Walsh

Breaking her silence on the tragedy, Miss Holden had said that she was keen to start trying for another baby as soon as possible.

Speaking in May, she said the family had gone through ‘the worst time of ours lives’, but added: ‘I'm a naturally really optimistic girl and we're not dramatic people. Although what's happened is obviously horrifying, we can go on and have more children.

‘Our future's bright and you have to turn negatives into positives, and try and see everything as a blessing. That's exactly what we've done."

Miss Holden also revealed that she developed a close friendship with a group of midwives who helped her through her ordeal.

Happy mother-to-be: Amanda posted the news to her Twitter page

She told the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine: ‘They have gone on to become personal friends and they got Chris and me through the worst time of our lives.

‘They went above and beyond the call of duty, both personally and professionally. I cannot thank them enough.’

The star was admitted to hospital just days after filming auditions in Cardiff for ITV talent hit Britain’s Got Talent.

She complained that she had not been able to feel the baby kick for 24 hours.

New role: Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh is set to take over Amanda's role as Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical

Doctors were unable to save him but were baffled as to what went wrong, describing him as ‘physically perfect’.

Miss Holden was forced to go under sedation while she came to terms with the shock and spent two days in hospital.

She said: ‘It was without doubt the blackest period of my life.

‘You never think that it might happen to you. I was an absolute mess. Poor Chris was too but he was amazing.’

She is currently starring in West End musical Shrek as Princess Fiona. However, her role will be taken over by Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh on October 3.

New addition: Amanda, seen on holiday with her family in LA earlier this month, is already mother to Lexi who is excited she will be a big sister

The friend added that she would ‘definitely’ be returning to Britain’s Got Talent next year.

Miss Holden tweeted her joy as she wrote: 'Lexi's question of the day(and most days) "Mama when are you going to get a baby in your tummy?"Happy to say TODAY Lexi!Mama is pregnant!Yay'

After well wishers congratulated her on the news Amanda added: 'OMG! Am overwhelmed with all your tweets! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! Am thrilled and terrified all rolled into one!'

Unflattering: Kimberley Walsh arrives at a TV studio to promote her new film in a shapeless salmon pink skirt

It's really not like Kimberley Walsh to get it wrong in the fashion stakes.

She is a woman that knows what suits her curvaceous frame, so it was a surprise to see her get it wrong.

The Girls Aloud star was snapped arriving for a TV interview this morning in a very unflattering salmon pink skirt.

It did nothing for her curves and hung shapelessly from her hips, making ti look as thought she'd wrapped a sheet round her waist.

The rest of the outfit was very chic, as she teamed the skirt with a beige leather jackets and matching peep-toed heels.

But the shapeless garment on her bottom half left a lot to be desired on the usually ever-so-stylish pop star.

Hi everyone! Kimberley waves at the fans that had gathered outside the studio to see her

Kimberley, 29, was guest on breakfast chat show Daybreak to promote her new film, Horrid Henry: The Movie.

But she started by paying tribute to Amy Winehouse and how her death still had her in shock.

Speaking to presenters Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, she said: 'I know it’s been a few days but I actually still feel quite shocked by it. I was in just pure shock when I heard the news.

Ready for her close-up: Kimberley adjusts her hair for photos and then beams after being handed some lovely flowers

'We’ve watched her and we’ve feared that that was where it was going, but I think you never thought it would actually come to that, it’s just so sad, it’s such an awful loss.'

She added that there are many pressures faced by artists and said: 'You have to be a very strong character, and I think she clearly did get in with the wrong kind of crowd.

'She was in that Camden drug taking lifestyle and it’s just destructive. Like you say – and it’s a slippery slope. I just feel like it’s such a loss – musically as well. She’s so talented and everybody has so much respect for her.'

Moving on from the weekend's tragic news, Kimberley turned her thoughts to her new film, which is released on Friday.

The film is based on the fictional mischievous schoolboy character and Kimberley plays Henry's cousin Prissy Polly.

She said: 'I did quite a lot of acting before Girls Aloud, bits and pieces, so it was kind of revisiting it. It was fun actually, I quite liked it, I sort of settled back into it. And the kids were lovely and they made me feel quite welcome.

'I don’t know if you know, but I have got a little baby in the film – Vomiting Vera she’s called – so I was kept occupied with her for a lot of the time, just kind of making sure that she didn’t start crying in the middle of the scene. So it was hard to kind of keep everything on track, but it was fine.'

As for Girls Aloud - who are currently on hiatus - she said she hoped there were some plans for the group's ten year anniversary next year.

She said: 'I think the 10 year anniversary is a massive thing and we’re all really excited about it, so I think there definitely will be some plans put in place for that, which is really exciting.

'I think we’ll probably have more to see in the new year, but we are chatting about it now and it is a nice thought.'

On the big screen: Kimberley stars in new film Horrid Henry in which she plays Prissy Polly

Should it be Aloud?: Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh pays a visit to their friend's wedding in Berkshire but almost upstage the bride

For some women their wedding is the most important day of their lives, and one which puts her in the limelight ahead of all the other women in attendance.

But maybe the memo explaining this didn't reach Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh who were very close to upstaging their friend at a wedding today.

The Girls Aloud duo became the star attraction at the Berkshire ceremony and dressed accordingly.

Write caption here

Nicola Roberts, a repeat offender when it comes to crimes against fashion, once again failed to make the grade in an odd coloured striped dress.

With its mix of blue, burgundy and khaki the 25-year-old's dress made for unpleasant viewing.

She topped off the outfit with a pair of pink-soled heels with black bows on the front and a pair of unflattering wayfarer shades.

Joy: Nicola looks ecstatic as she spies her friend the bride, while Kimberley continues to take photos on her phone

Blending in: The duo joined guests in taking pictures at the wedding, Nicola in particular stood out like a sore thumb in her poorly chosen dress

Meanwhile Kimberley, 29, nailed her outfit - a perfect summertime ensemble that complimented her figure.

She wore a pink 50s-style baby doll dress with a sheer panel across the neck area and a black belt tied up to pin the dress in at the waist. Accessorising with a pair of peep toe patent heels and a black handbag.

The bride herself looked great in her wedding dress - a simple, silk number puffed up around the bottom.

Big day: The Girls Aloud stars chat with the bride who looked great in a silk wedding gown

Congratulations: Nicola Roberts gives her friend a celebratory hug at the sunny June wedding which took place in Berkshire

Unfortunately for the newlywed the duo were close to eclipsing her on her big day/

They attempted to blend in with guests at the sun kissed wedding at a quaint church in Berkshire, taking pictures on their phones and chatting with her after the ceremony.

But they couldn't avoid being the centre of attention.

Here comes the bride: The newlywed makes her way into the chruch aided by a friend

Centre of attention: There were more cameras aimed at the Girls Aloud stars than the bride herself

Meanwhile, Nicola Roberts releases her first solo effort this Sunday with a sneak preview of the video to the new song already in circulation.

Beat Of My Drum has so far been receiving rave reviews from those who have heard it, with Mr Paparazzi tweeting yesterday: ‘Nicola Roberts debuts her new song on Radio 1. We bloody love it!’

While Perez Hilton tweeted yesterday: ‘I am dancing to the beat of my drum!!! Just heard the song in full and I am LIVING for your new single! Vid looks HOT too!!.’

Nicola was obviously happy with the response and tweeted back: ‘TEAM GINGE ROCKS!!! Your messages about #BeatOfMyDrum today have been amazing xxx’

Bronzed babe Kimberley Walsh looks pretty in head to toe tan

By Daily Mail Reporter

Bronzed babe: Kimberley Walsh was dressed head to toe in tan on her night out in London's West End

Kimberley Walsh appears to have lost some weight recently and she showed off her toned physique last night in an all-bronze outfit.

The Girls Aloud star was in London’s West End wearing high waist tan trousers alongside a brown knit top and nude peep toe heels.

Her golden skin and chestnut hair blended perfectly with the outfit as she posed for photographers and appeared to have been given a bunch of red roses and a gift on her night out.

And Kimberley still managed to look elegant despite her bra being on show through the sheer vest top.

Meanwhile, the X Factor fan revealed in her OK! Magazine column this week that she’s looking forward to her friend Steve Jones nabbing the presenting job on the US version of the show.

She said: ‘They kept him waiting for a while – so I was really pleased because I think he’s brilliant.

‘They’ve all gone on about Cheryl’s accent, but Steve’s Welsh twang is even stronger!

‘US audiences will completely fall for his charm and his good looks. He is very Hollywood, he will fit in well.

Strike a pose: Kimberley made sure to pose for photographers in her high waist trousers and nude peep-toe heels

‘Good on Simon Cowell for showcasing British talent.’

And as her fellow Girls Aloud pal Cheryl Cole sits on the US X Factor judging panel, their bandmate Nicola Roberts is about to launch her first solo single.

Nicola’s single Beat Of My Drum will be followed by her debut solo album, which she wants to play to her Girls Aloud friends first.

Kimberley revealed that they will all go to her house to listen to it before the rest of the world hears the album.

Special gift? Kimberley was spotted carrying around a bunch of red roses and a golden gift bag on her night out

Walsh said: ‘I know that the lyrics on one of the songs on the album refer to how hard her early days in Girls Aloud were, and that will be painful to hear.

‘She was our little sister, we tried to protect her so it’ll be hard to hear how hurt she was.

‘I’m sure there will be a few tears – but this is her moment of triumph, proof that it was all worthwhile. She’s inspirational.’
