With his toned and muscular body sweating in the summer sun, Craig David certainly looked slicker than your average beach dweller, yesterday afternoon.

The chart topping singer pushed his body to the limit during a gruelling work out session at a park in Miami Beach, Florida.

The 31-year-old looked in great shape as he put on quite a physical performance in order to maintain his impressive physique.

The Born to Do It singer was shirtless and showed off his six-pack and heavily sculpted torso which he had the perfect formula for.

Craig perched himself on the edge of a raised platform and sat there doing stomach crunches in order to get the chiseled look.

Under the watchful eye of his personal trainer Grant DeBacher, he then moved on to work out his extremely ripped guns.

With a heavy looking dumbbell in each hand, his veins raised to the surface as he repeated his bicep curls in the blistering heat, before hydrating with coconut water.

The fitness fanatic worked up a sweat in his long white adidas shorts and matching trainers but stepped his celebrity status with personalised towels.

Craig dried himself off with black towels that were embroidered with the twitter hashtag '#EatCleanTrainDirty'.

He also has the motto on his twitter page and he started a Facebook group under the same name earlier this year.

He says on the Facebook page: 'As a musician music is what drives me everyday, but without the mental & physical health none of it would be possible.

'That's why I #EatCleanTrainDirty to get results all round!'

The health obsessed star also writes: 'Music & Health are all part of the same end state.....good life!!

'Enjoying life to the fullest & taking the body and mind to new heights!!'

Craig has not had a top ten hit in the UK since Hot Stuff (Let's Dance) charted at number seven but he is positive that he is in for a good year of music success.

He tweeted, earlier this year: 'Let's make this an epic year and create some magic in the studio as I'm more than ready! #beenlongenough.'

Hard work: Craig David works out hard on a Miami beach and has tweeted about his fitness

He used to sing about how he would romance a girl during the course of one week.

These days, however, Craig David, is more concerned with maintaining his ripped physique and getting the best out of his body.

The Rewind singer has posted messages on his Twitter page everyday of the year so far about his aspirations to kick start the new year in great shape.

The 30-year-old was seen training hard on a Miami beach yesterday and the fruits of his labour were already apparent.

Wearing nothing more than a pair of black Adidas shorts and some matching footwear, he sweated his through a grueling workout.

With only his own body weight to fight against, Craig worked on his shoulders and upper back by pulling some elasticated bands.

Not even his personal trainer could stop him as he sprinted across the sand whilst being held back with the same training aid.

Craig, who relocated to Miami, has upped his training and general health and appears to have given up alcohol too.

On January 1 he said on Twitter: 'All about feeling fresh, healthy and alive in life!! Hangovers are so 2011! Lol #lovin'life.'

Pulling power: The personal trainer holds back Craig as he runs away from him

The results of healthy lifestyle have been helped by an equally healthy diet and the former garage star posted a picture of a typical meal that eats after a tough session.

He said: '"@VeeksP: @CraigDavid what is that?" Sea bass, spinach, broccoli & baked sweet potatoe. #cleanfoodperiod.'

The gym obsessed tweets kept on coming with David posting more and more affirmative statements.

He said: '1st Day work out diary of 2012! #I'minthebuildingandimfeelingmyself.
'All about killing it in the gym and recording a smash in the studio!! #leggoooooo,' he added.

Craig has not had a top ten hit in the UK since Hot Stuff (Let's Dance) charted at number seven but he is positive that he is in for a good year of music success.

He tweeted: 'Let's make this an epic year and create some magic in the studio as I'm more than ready! #beenlongenough.'

Keeping the 'fat kid' at bay: Topless Craig David works up a sweat pounding the pavement

Focused: Craig David who has admitted he has a 'fat kid' inside him pounded the pavements in Miami yesterday

In the past he has claimed that there is a ‘fat kid’ inside but admits he works hard to keep a toned physique.

And yesterday Craig David was spotted pounding the pavement in the sunshine in Miami – with his shirt off of course.

The Fill Me In singer is regularly spied indulging in a topless run but instead of his usual beach run he had ditched the sand in favour of the pavement as he worked up a sweat.

Last month Craig was seen working out with British boxer David Haye and was seen exercising with his training team on Miami beach.

But while he didn’t have a friend to work out with yesterday Craig seemed absorbed and focused as he listened to music on an iPod shuffle.

He later revealed his track of choice to be Blackstreet’s song Before I Let You Go and he told his fans on Twitter he was going to listen to it on repeat during his cardio session.

Working up a sweat: Craig revealed he was listening a Blackstreet song on repeat as he ran on the pavement and his cardio session got his creative juices flowing as he finished off a song the next day

Dressed only in a pair of bright white shorts and sparkling matching trainers Craig was left glistening with sweat from the high Florida temperatures.

And it seemed that the cardio session helped to get his creative juices flowing and earlier today he managed to finish the second track off his latest album.

Last year the singer, who was chubby as a child, revealed he still suffered from cravings for fast food.

Have you been working out? Craig David showed off a toned physique that gave David Haye a run for his money as the pair trained together in Miami last month

He said: 'I'll eat three KFCs... I'll eat 12 buckets if you put them in front of me. Not 12 pieces, 12 buckets.

'I train hard, I work really hard. If you want to indulge in treats, then go for it.

'I was a fat kid growing up, who lost the weight, got himself together and now it's about consistency. But there's always a fat kid inside that's reaching out for Kentucky.'
