Staying strong: Nicola McLean and Tom Williams are gutted after the glamour model suffered a miscarriage

Nicola McLean has suffered a miscarriage with the pregnancy of her third child, it emerged today.

The glamour model and mother-of-two revealed only last month that she was expecting but now she is 'absolutely gutted' about her loss.

The 30-year-old feared that she may have caused the miscarriage by drinking champagne at the start of the pregnancy before she knew she was with child.

She told OK! magazine that after going to see her doctor for her 12-week scan, she was told the heartbreaking news.

She said: 'There was no heartbeat. The doctor told me that the baby's heart probably stopped at nine weeks.'

Nicola worried that having a night out last month, where she drank alcohol and took Prozac, could have been the reason for the miscarriage.

However, the doctor reassured her that the 'the baby was never going to grow or form properly.'

She told the magazine: 'I did worry, so I asked the doctor and he told me that a lot of people drink when they're pregnant in the early stage - unless they've planned the baby - as there's no way of knowing, and some people do remain on anti-depressants while they're pregnant too.'

McLean said that she did not experience any pain during the pregnancy and she had even been really sick just as she had with her first two children.

She is said to have suffered a common experience called a chromosome abnormality, which is also referred to as a missed miscarriage because there are no symptoms.

Tom, 31, and Nicola were both very excited at the prospect of having a third child but the couple feel blessed to already have two healthy sons, Rocky and Striker.

The former Celebrity Big Brother star told the magazine last week, that she was keen to complete her brood with a little girl.

She said: 'I'd love a girl but I'd also be happy with a boy because I love going to the football.

'But I would love all the ballet and tutus. I love children, I love being a mum and having a big family.'
