She said this week she struggled to keep the pounds off.

But judging by the outtakes from her latest music video, Nicki Minaj has nothing to worry about.

The 29-year-old was spotted flaunting her very shapely derriere in a pink bikini as she shot Starships in Oahu Hawaii.

The rapper and singer also donned a green wig, in keeping with her very out of this world appearance, as she rolled around on the sand.

It has long been rumoured that the star has had surgery to achieve her bootylicious behind, but she has not admitted or denied it.

She explained to DJ Funkmast Flex last year that she didn't mind the comments.

'I don’t mind the fascination. It’s all good. … But I’ve said this before, it doesn’t define me. So, I try my best not to focus my energy on it.

'Like, if you guys focus energy on and spend energy on it, I don’t mind it. You know, people are sitting in the barbershop talking about my butt, it’s conversational. That’s what people are gonna do. As long as they’re talking about Nicki Minaj, I’m good.'

Working out: Nicki, who appeared to have gold paint on her legs and derriere, said this week she found it hard to stay in shape

Queen of the female rappers: Nicki has said she wants to overtake Jay-Z as a music mogul in her hip hop domination

Even Nicki's friend Coco Austin, who is married to rapper Ice T and sports a large derriere herself, claimed it was fake, saying in an interview with Perez Hilton: 'Well, I read that it wasn’t. I thought that she came out with it. I heard it from her.'

And in the song Dance Ass with Big Sean, Nicki appears to admit to surgery.

She raps: 'Kiss my a*** and my anus, because it’s finally famous, and it’s finally soft, yeah, it’s finally soft, I don’t know, man, guess them a*** shots wore off.'

Although the Trinidad-born star is often seen in revealing attire, she told Allure magazine this week it was difficult for her to keep her body in shape.

'I'm naturally petite, but I definitely struggle with keeping those extra pounds off.

'And I hate working out. I can't stand being on a treadmill. That mentally irks me. When I need to lose a few, I just cut out sugar and starch'

She also revealed this week she planned on taking over Jay-Z's spot as a major mogul in the hip-hop world.

'I never thought about music as just being the end-all, be-all. I always looked at it like a business, something that I could create an empire out of.

'I had a little conversation with Jay-Z at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. He said, "Congratulations on all your success". And I was like: "Yeah, I'm coming for you. I'm coming for your spot, Mr. Mogul".'

With all her might: Nicki makes her fist into a ball and belts out the tune

Making it happen: The star is surrounded by a team of cameramen and producers as she films in the idyllic location

The lighting has to be right! The team held red screens above her to create a different effect

She also spoke about why she thinks she had such a broad fan base.

'I think as far as the younger demo is concerned, I play dress up-up.

'I also can put on a very cartoonish voice. So sometimes children may not know what I'm saying, but they like the sound of it, and they think I sound like some weird character.'

Kicking back: The star has a chuckle in between takes
