Bumping along nicely: Chantelle Houghton gets her hair extensions done ready for Christmas Eve

It's the time to stop worrying about love handles; throwing diets and sensibilities out the window.

But Chantelle Houghton won't be joining in the boozy revelry this Christmas as she is expecting her first child.

In true Essex girl fashion, she took the alcohol ban in her stride and headed to the salon instead.

The 28-year-old was seen adding extensions to her already long waist-length hair at Great Portland Street hairdresser Inanch Hair Design.

The Big Brother star playfully stuck her tongue out to photographers and flashed a winning smile as she wiled away the hours in the chair.

Chantelle later gushed on Twitter about her new look, tweeting: 'Loving my extensions I had done yesterday @inanchlondon using @greatlengthsuk my hair looks amazing! applied by inanch herself, thank you X'

The mother-to-be is expecting her first child with fiancé Alex Reid.

Despite still being legally married to Katie Price, former cage-fighter Reid surprised viewers by proposing live on television in October.

During an appearance on Irish programme The Saturday Night Show, Reid popped the question in front of a studio audience.

The tabloid darlings are now set to star in reality show, documenting their lives together and the new addition to the family.

According to the Daily Star, TV bosses are hopeful a series featuring the pair will be as successful as fly-on-the-wall series What Katie Did Next, which followed the lives of model Price who was then married to Reid.

After initially struggling to conceive naturally due to years of excessive dieting, Houghton said last month: 'I'm 11 weeks gone. I don't know exactly when the baby was conceived. I can't even believe I'm pregnant.

'We were a week away from starting IVF. The thought of conceiving naturally had gone out of my mind completely - I didn't even think it was possible. I had my fertility injections in the fridge.'

Finishing touches: Chantelle is ready to surprise Alex Reid
